When the say that toothpast will help clear spots, what do the mean ';But NOT the gel';?

I have been looking around for cures for my spots/zits and I have noticed that toothpaste is very popular. However, I see lots of people saying that it shouldn't be the GEL form of toothpaste that you use... what do they mean by this?

Is there another type of toothpaste or am I just not reading it right? When the say that toothpast will help clear spots, what do the mean ';But NOT the gel';?
It has to be the kind that is white and opayue..You know..Not see through jelly like?

Why toothpaste works is that it dries up the spot, so that it heals quicker..A lot quicker.. Loads of people say that it doesn't work..But it DOES!! The gel doesn't work however, as it doesn't have the same properties as a normal toothpaste..Like colgate whites. Instead of drying it..It adds grease to it so the spot would last for longer..As its kind of been fuelled with the grease ( It helps it stay 'alive' )

You get it?

And normal toothpastes are you know..white or stripy and they are opaque but gel is slimy and clear (Like gel you put in your hair)

Hope i helped..XWhen the say that toothpast will help clear spots, what do the mean ';But NOT the gel';?
The paste kind of toothpaste. It's usually the cheaper kind and it doesn't have the stripes of gel in it and it's not transparent. Just plain white paste. (also, salicylic acid works practically overnight)
use the regular crest. another thing i have found to get rid of zits is liquid dial. you can use this all day long. put just a dab of liquid dial on the blemish several times a day and it will dry up and be gone in a day, maybe two. use octagon soap made by calgon when washing your face. it is a bar soap. it comes in a white paper package with black writing. i learned of this soap from a woman who works with terminally ill patients with extremely sensitive skin. it does not contain lye and it is the best soap i have ever used. i very rarely get a pimple but when i do i use the dial spot treatment.
just ues the white type like colgate

and not the ones that are coloured
there is a gel type of toothpaste and a paste type of toothpaste...the package usually says ';minty gel'; if it is a gel...
As opposed to the paste form of toothpaste that is white. The gel form is usually blue or another color. It will say on your toothpaste if it is gel or not. Toothpaste will just dry out your zits though, it really is only an emergency thing if you don't have anything else on hand for a big zit. It will not stop you from breaking out or cure your acne though. If you have a real problem just forget the creams and drugstore cures. You are wasting your time, trust me. Actual acne is a medical thing and you need to see your doctor who can refer you to a dermatologist. They can start to work on finding you an actual cure for your acne, rather than stuff to get rid of the pimples you already have. A pill call Accutane works the best. There are a lot of side effects (very dry skin) and you have to have your blood tested every month as it is basically a very strong derivative of vitamin A, just to make sure its not causing any damage to your organs. The plus (that if you have actual acne is so worth it) is that you take the pills (1 or 2)every day for about 6 months and you have like a 70% chance of never getting another pimple again. If you take it another couple months that goes up to like 98%! I took it when I was a teen after trying everything, and I slept in my makeup for months(disgusting I know) and never got one pimple. Doctors usually try everything else though first, and use it as a last resort. Better to get the ball rolling now. Why live with the frustration?
They mean the white toothpaste as this tends to dry out to a thick paste and so draws out the spot.

It really does work !!!!
Toothpaste is white. Gel is usually colored and partly clear. It will say ';gel formula'; on the box. If you're going to do this, I'd try the Tom's all natural toothpaste.

While it can help with pimples, you're probably better off (for the money) getting Oxy pads, Oxy gel, or clerasil.

Toothpaste works by drying out the oil on your face that causes acne. But, some people break out worse form it because they are sensitive to the flavoring in the toothpaste.
No, do not use the gel...use the old school white paste. It has bicarbonate in it which is one of the ingredients in baking soda (also, good for zits) and helps shrink/dry zits. Try UltraBrite or old school Colgate. (Both in the Dollar Tree)
Toothpaste does come in gel form. Just be sure the stuff you get doesn't say gel, and you're fine.
The non gel formula will dry out pimples better. I have used it before. Or you can buy a mud / face mask and dab it on. It's all about drying out the pimple. Leave it on for a few hours or over night and that should lessen the pimple and the redness. Good Luck!
toothpaste if for teeth. use salycylic acid on zits and see your dermatologist.
paste is usually white, gel is clear and tinted acolor like green or blue. why dont u just use zit products?
try some lubricant
